Fig West Chester Summer 2014 | vol 11 - 20
authentic At the intersection of Gay and High streets stands the old Woolworth's, a building that was once a busy community gathering spot. I n 1998, that neighborhood cornerstone was transformed into a fresh resource for greeting your neighbor and enjoying good food with the opening of Iron Hill, a restaurant and brew pub. Iron Hill maintains a strong presence in West Chester due in large part to the fact that co-founder Kevin Finn lives within walking distance and is committed to giving back to the town he calls home. You might spot Kevin on site at Iron Hill, or running with his dogs through West Chester's cobblestoned streets. "It's great to be part of such a beautiful, walkable town," says Kevin. A beer enthusiast and active sportsman, Kevin helped found the very popular annual Iron Hill Twilight Criterium Bike Race, which happens every July. He was also instrumental in establishing Iron Hill's "Give 20" program, which donates 20% of food sales to assist the fundraising efforts of local nonprofit organizations, such as the West Chester Food Cupboard. While there are now 10 different locations, Iron Hill's West Chester branch is their culinary epicenter-all new menu items are tested out here first, right in town, from menu development to sampling seasonal additions like this summer's selection of tacos. "We continue to evolve our brand in everything we do," says Kevin. In terms of what comes next for Iron Hill in West Chester, Kevin plans to keep on doing the same-giving back to the community that has been so supportive of Iron Hill over the years. "We hope we will always be part of this vibrant town," Kevin says. 20 figwestchester.com | facebook.com/figwestchester | twitter.com/figwestchester Offering handcrafted beer, unique entrees, and creative yet informal cuisine, Iron Hill maintains a strong presence in West Chester.
